Overview
eir evo talent are currently seeking applicants for an experienced VB6 Developer. This is a hybrid 12month day rate contract position located with our client in Dublin.
Work will focus on project and production support activities on a range of legacy VB6 systems.
What You’ll Do
- Develop software as required to deliver solutions which meet business requirements
- Prepare and execute unit test plans and document results.
- Prepare and execute system and integration test plans and document results.
- Troubleshoot program code, related objects, and documentation in order to resolve application issues.
- Quality check program code, related objects, and documentation.
- Respond to Production Support issues.
- Represent the team at project meetings and calls.
- Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT projects in own area of expertise for specific lines of business, collaborating with IT colleagues from across the wider function to agree an approach for project management.
- Technical Support throughout System Test and UAT.
- Provide estimates for the effort required to design and implement new or modified application functionality
Technical Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: 5 years programming experience in VB6, VB.NET, SQL, MS Access, XML;
- Must have recent VB6 experience
- Experience in configuring web services using IIS an advantage
- Experience in C and C# an advantage
- Previous experience in life assurance/financial industry preferred.
- Previous experience in re-architecting and upgrading of legacy systems an advantage.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket and Bamboo an advantage
- Experience of source control applications such as GIT
