Overview
IT Infrastructure and Network Engineer
This person is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise IT infrastructure with a strong focus on cloud and network technologies.
This role requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Cisco Meraki, and Microsoft 365, and plays a key part in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the organisation’s IT environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Architect and deploy scalable infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-prem environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure and Cisco Meraki technologies.
- Cloud Services Management (Azure): Manage Azure resources including virtual machines, networking, storage, identity, and security. Optimise performance and cost-efficiency of cloud services.
- Network Administration (Cisco Meraki): Configure and maintain Cisco Meraki networks including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and SD-WAN. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Microsoft 365 Administration: Oversee the administration of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune. Ensure compliance, security, and user productivity.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices across infrastructure platforms. Support audits and ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies.
- Incident & Problem Management: Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues. Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Mentoring & Training: Mentor and train IT staff, fostering technical growth and ensuring knowledge transfer across the team. Actively support professional development and create a culture of continuous learning.
Key Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or a similar role.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure (certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 are a plus).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki networking solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and security.
- Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., ARM templates, Terraform, PowerShell).
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
