Job Overview:
We are working with a prominent mechanical contractor in Dublin, seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to manage and oversee mechanical contracts valued between €5-20 million. The ideal candidate will have full responsibility for an agreed number of contracts works, including their costs and efficiencies. This person will be a member of the senior management team, and there will be an expectation that they will get involved in how the business works and runs, providing input on how to improve a smoother running of projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Oversee the management of mechanical contracts valued at €5-20 million, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies. Ensure all project milestones are met.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage project teams including engineers, site managers, subcontractors, and other personnel to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Budget Control: Maintain strict control over project budgets, monitoring expenditures and ensuring that projects remain within financial limits.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure that all projects adhere to health and safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a safe working environment.
- Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or issues that arise during the project.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services in line with the project schedule and budget.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the project, ensuring contingencies are in place.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work carried out meets the company’s high standards of quality and complies with project specifications and industry standards.
- Contract Reporting: Provide regular project reports, including financial updates, progress reports, and any challenges encountered.
- Problem Solving: Proactively address any issues that arise during the course of the project to prevent delays and maintain smooth operations.
- Post-Completion Management: Oversee final project handover, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and necessary documentation is completed.
Desired Criteria:
- Experience: Minimum of 8+ years in mechanical contracting with at least 5 years in a Contracts Manager role, managing contracts within the €5-20 million range.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of mechanical contracting, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and piping.
- Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strict control over timelines and budgets.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership experience, managing diverse teams of engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Client Relationship Management: Ability to build and sustain strong client relationships, with a focus on understanding client needs and delivering excellent service.
- Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Proactive in resolving issues, with a practical and solution-oriented approach.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to both internal teams and clients.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and industry regulations in Ireland.
- Full Driving Licence: A full, clean driver’s licence is required for site visits.
