Senior SAP Technical Architect – ECC to S4 HANA migration

Reporting to: IT Director

  • Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Architect to lead the design and implementation of strategic technology initiatives, ensuring IT systems align with business objectives.
  • This senior role will be instrumental in major projects, including the consolidation of Dublin offices into a single campus and the replacement of the current SAP ECC 6 Practice Management system with a modern alternative to support digital transformation.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams and senior stakeholders, providing architectural leadership and ensuring seamless integration of technology solutions across key business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Architecture Oversight

  • Define the overall architecture for systems and applications, covering software tools, databases, release management, and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and recommend suitable technologies, tools, and platforms to align with business objectives.
  • Ensure the architecture supports performance, scalability, and future growth.
  • Assess if current applications and platforms align with the firm’s transformation vision.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Present and explain the recommended technology stack, including cloud deployment strategies, programming tools, and databases.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Communicate technical proposals clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mediate technical discussions and align expectations among different teams.

Technical Leadership

  • Guide development and infrastructure teams to adhere to architectural standards and best practices.
  • Resolve technical issues and ensure smooth integration between different teams and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best security practices.
  • Implement best practices for system optimization, scalability, and supportability.
  • Oversee all technology touchpoints across the organization.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements for system efficiency.

Project Management & Performance Optimization

  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for all key systems.
  • Implement monitoring and performance strategies to enhance system efficiency.
  • Lead the adoption of new technologies and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks.
  • Contribute to the project budgeting process.

Key Competencies:

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end technology architecture implementations at small, medium, or large enterprises.
  • Strong understanding of diverse data technologies and architecture best practices, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions (SAP and non-SAP data objects).
  • Knowledge of the Professional Services industry and core business processes (e.g., Hire to Retire, Procurement, Project Systems).
  • Expertise in operating systems, Kubernetes, Containers, and Docker in cloud environments.
  • Strong grasp of cloud computing, system design, and programming languages for cloud-native applications (SAP BTP, Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, AliCloud).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture tools (e.g., SAP LeanIX or TOGAF-based tools).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience as a Technical Architect or similar role, with a strong background in system design and architecture.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and its integration with other cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, AliCloud).
  • TOGAF or AWS certification is highly desirable.
