Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced ICT Operations Manager to lead its ICT Operations team within the ICT Programme.
The successful candidate will oversee and manage the client’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable operations.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise in managing network infrastructure, server management, system monitoring, and ICT projects.
The ICT Operations Manager will lead the ICT Operations team, working closely with the following teams to support the organization’s strategic goals: Security & Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Delivery, and Service Desk & ICT Business Support.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the client’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring the functionality and performance of all systems, applications, and networks.
  • Implement routine maintenance, updates, and proactive measures to ensure high availability and reliability of ICT services.
  • Identify and address potential issues before they become critical problems.
  • Manage and lead a team of ICT professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, evaluating their performance and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Support the development and implementation of ICT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist the Architecture & Business Engagement and ICT Delivery teams in developing digital solutions and maintaining security standards.
  • Lead ICT Disaster Recovery response for major incidents and oversee the ICT Disaster Recovery Management System.
  • Monitor and manage ICT budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement governance and procedures, with a focus on client initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand ICT needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with ICT regulations and standards.
  • Stay up to date with ICT trends and emerging technologies to enhance ICT capabilities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, performance management, and evaluation of ICT operations.
  • Lead and motivate staff, fostering a positive team culture and innovation.
  • Oversee contractors’ activities and ensure excellence in procurement and outsourced services.
  • Develop and implement annual work programs, including budget preparation and management.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and presentations for senior management and external bodies.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Represent the organization in expert groups, committees, and stakeholder engagements.

 
Essential Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

  1. A qualification at NFQ Level 8 (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Science, Engineering, or a related field, with at least five years of relevant experience in ICT Operations.
  2. A qualification at NFQ Level 7 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, with at least seven years of experience in ICT Operations.
  3. A qualification at NFQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, with at least eight years of experience in ICT Operations.

Additionally, candidates must have:

  • Strong technical expertise and demonstrated experience in networking, firewall and server management, incident management, cloud technologies (Azure and Microsoft 365), DevOps, and backup/disaster recovery.
  • A proven track record of fostering collaboration to manage ICT interdependencies and challenges.
  • Experience in decision-making and providing expert technical advice on ICT infrastructure and system design specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience managing and leading teams in delivering complex ICT projects.
  • A full valid Irish/EU Driving Licence (Class B) or a licence acceptable for transfer to a full Irish licence.
